RVers – "How Do They Live Like That?"

BOOK DETAILS

BOOK ABSTRACT

This engaging book, "RVers – How Do They Live Like That?," resulted from hundreds of interviews and focus groups in the US and Canada by a husband and wife team, retired mental health professionals, now in their eleventh year of full-time RVing. Unlike most RV books that explain the "nuts and bolts" of choosing and using an RV, the authors focus on the personal-emotional aspects of the RV lifestyle. It is written for newcomers as well as seasoned RVers, and for their family and friends who wish to understand them.

Farrow and Stoetzer trace the personal changes that effect both couples and singles, starting with a "dream" and going through predictable stages that eventually conclude with "hanging up the keys." They identify the hazards like "road angst," the fork in the road that leads to either tourist destinations or toward a new personal identity as Career RVers. They also define the RV as a vehicle for promoting successful aging, and offer tools for couples and singles to manage the usual personal, marital, and family problems arising from a life on the road.
